Yaqumo Selected for NEDO’s “Deep Tech Startup Support Fund / International Joint R&D Program”; Launches Joint Research with Entropica Labs in Singapore

– Accelerating Quantum Computing Development with Support from NEDO and Enterprise Singapore

TOKYO, JAPAN — Yaqumo Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; CEO: Kazuhiro Nakashoji ; “Yaqumo”) is pleased to announce that it has been selected for the FY2025 “Deep Tech Startup Support Fund / International Joint R&D Program” by the New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO). Through this selection and the joint research with Singapore-based quantum software company Entropica Labs Pte. Ltd. (“Entropica Labs”), Yaqumo will strongly accelerate the building of a quantum ecosystem between Singapore and Japan.

Background

Aiming for the realization and social implementation of Japan’s first integrated cold-atom quantum computer, Yaqumo signed an MOU with Entropica Labs on January 9, 2026. The signing ceremony was witnessed by Josephine Teo, Singapore’s Minister for Digital Development and Information, and Kimi Onoda, Japan’s Minister of State for Science and Technology Policy.

Project Overview

This program supports international joint R&D projects conducted by deep tech startups in collaboration with overseas partners as part of their global expansion efforts. Under the framework, NEDO and Enterprise Singapore concurrently provide support for the respective R&D activities of companies in Japan and Singapore.

Yaqumo is developing innovative quantum computing hardware based on the highly scalable neutral-atom (cold-atom) approach. To maximize hardware performance and accelerate practical implementation, advanced optimization at the software layer is essential.

This joint research strategically combines Yaqumo’s hardware technology with Entropica Labs’ software expertise, representing an important step toward Yaqumo’s goal of realizing fault-tolerant quantum computing (FTQC).

Specifically, the collaboration will focus on the “Development of Transpilation Functions for Large-Scale Fault-Tolerant Quantum Computers.” The companies will develop transpilation technology for cold-atom quantum computers that optimally converts logical quantum circuits to match real-device constraints.

Through this initiative, Yaqumo and Entropica Labs aim to significantly improve the execution efficiency and accuracy of quantum computation.

Future Outlook

The technology developed through this joint research will be sequentially integrated into the quantum computers currently being developed by Yaqumo. Furthermore, leveraging this initiative as a powerful driving force, we will deepen collaboration, including technical exchanges between the two countries, to accelerate the construction of a robust global quantum ecosystem between Singapore and Japan.
